Frequently asked questions

What sensors work with the CIL522 12mm C-mount lens?

The CIL522 fits 2/3″ sensors up to 3MP at 4.2µm pixel pitch, including the Sony IMX264 and IMX547. At F/2.8, it resolves down to 2.74µm pixel pitch for higher resolution sensors.

What is the aperture range of the CIL522?

The aperture adjusts from F/1.4 to F/16. You can run it wide open at F/1.4 for low-light or high-speed work, or you can stop down when you need more depth of field. You can use depth of field calculator to estimate DoF at your working distance.

How much distortion does the CIL522 have?

Distortion is 0.4% from rectilinear across the 11mm image circle. That level is low enough for most machine vision applications without software correction.

What is the CIL522 minimum working distance?

The minimum working distance is 150mm. The CIL522 focuses from 150mm to infinity.

Does the CIL522 12mm C-mount lens ship from the US?

Yes, Commonlands ships in-stock lenses same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

Are mechanical drawings available for the CIL522?

Yes, mechanical drawings and 3D STP files are available. You can contact engineering@commonlands.com for CAD integration files.

CIL522 is a 12mm C-mount lens with adjustable aperture from F/1.4 to F/16 for 2/3" sensors up to 3MP at 4.2µm pixel pitch. At F/2.8 it resolves down to 2.74µm. The 11.4mm image circle covers sensors like the IMX264 and IMX547 with clean edge performance.

Distortion is 0.4% from rectilinear, which is low enough that most machine vision pipelines can skip software correction. The 51° field of view at the 11mm image circle works well for part inspection, label reading, and general factory automation at 150mm and beyond. You can check angular resolution at field of view calculator

The lens uses all-glass optics in an aluminum barrel and keeps weight to 60g. That lower mass helps on gantry and robotic arm mounts where every gram shows up in settling time. The front thread is M27x0.5 for standard machine vision filters.

The C-mount interface threads directly into any standard C-mount camera port with a 17.526mm flange distance. You do not need an adapter for FLIR, Basler, Allied Vision, or other industrial cameras with C-mount ports.

The lens ships same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST. You can contact Commonlands engineering for volume pricing or application support on the CIL522.
