The CIL060 is a 6mm M12 lens with a 55° field of view at the 6.2mm image circle. Its perspective is close to a 35mm lens on a full-frame DSLR, so the lens feels natural instead of obviously wide or obviously telephoto. At F/2.8, it resolves 2-3MP on 1/2.3 inch sensors like the IMX477, which is enough for embedded vision prototypes and general monitoring.

The 9.0mm image circle covers formats up to 1/2 inch, so you have room to move to a larger sensor later without changing the lens immediately. Distortion stays under 2% TV, which is low enough for general machine vision and basic inspection without software correction in many cases. The hybrid glass and plastic optics in an aluminum barrel also keep weight at 6.0g, which helps when the camera has to stay light.

The M12A variant is available as CIL060-F2.8-M12IR with a 650nm IR cut-off filter or as CIL060-F2.8-M12NIR without a filter for NIR applications. The lens does not include ingress protection, so outdoor systems need environmental sealing somewhere else in the assembly. The lens fits e-con Systems standard S-mount boards with a 10-13mm tall holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart cameras with the Commonlands CLA019 holder. It also works well in Raspberry Pi camera builds when the target is a straightforward, normal-looking perspective.
