Frequently asked questions

What M12 lenses work with the CLA127 adapter?

M12 lenses with a mechanical back focal length greater than 4mm are the best candidates. Telephoto M12 focal lengths like 12mm, 18mm, 25mm, and 35mm typically work, while wide-angle M12 lenses with short MBFL values usually cannot reach focus.

Will the CLA127 adapter work with CS-mount cameras?

Yes, the CLA127 uses standard 1″-32 TPI C-mount threading, which works with both C-mount and CS-mount cameras. On CS-mount cameras you may need a 5mm spacer ring, depending on lens MBFL.

How thick is the CLA127 M12-to-C mount adapter?

The CLA127 is 3.5mm thick. That low profile helps keep the adapter stack height under control.

Can I remove the CLA127 adapter once installed?

Yes, you can unscrew it with a standard spanner wrench. The adapter does not require any permanent modification to the camera or lens.

Does the CLA127 adapter ship same day?

Yes, orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from San Diego. The CLA127 is stocked in quantity at our US warehouse.

What about vignetting when using M12 lenses on C-mount cameras?

Vignetting happens when the M12 lens image circle is smaller than the C-mount camera sensor diagonal. You should check the lens image circle against your sensor size before you order, and you can read lens mount guide for compatibility details.

CLA127 is a 3.5mm thick M12-to-C mount adapter for using M12 (S-mount) lenses on C-mount and CS-mount cameras. You thread the M12 lens into one side, screw the adapter into the camera body, and the system is ready. You can remove the adapter later with a standard spanner wrench.

The critical spec here is mechanical back focal length. If your M12 lens has an MBFL under roughly 4mm, it usually cannot reach focus on a C-mount camera because the sensor sits too far away. Telephoto M12 lenses at 12mm focal length and above are the best candidates. Wide-angle M12 lenses usually are not. You can read lens mount guide for the full compatibility breakdown.

The adapter uses machined aluminum construction and stays under 10g. The profile stays at 3.5mm, and the part uses standard M12x0.5 threads on the lens side and 1"-32 TPI C-mount threads on the camera side.

Mechanical fit does not guarantee full image coverage. If the M12 lens image circle is smaller than your sensor diagonal, you will get corner vignetting. You should match image circle to sensor size before you order.

The adapter is in stock and ships same day from San Diego for orders before 12 PM PST. The price is $6.00 per unit, and volume discounts start at 50 pieces.
